How
to Request-a-Title
How to Request-a-Title:
With a Mid-Hudson Library System library card
With a public library card from outside the
Mid-Hudson Library System area
With
your Mid-Hudson Library System library card:
You may borrow books, videos, DVD's and audio tapes from the public library
catalog over the Internet and have them delivered to the MHLS library
of your choice. This may be done in the library, at work, at home or from
any computer with an Internet connection.
When you are on the page of the item you want to borrow in the online
Pubic Library Catalog, click on the Request-a-Title button found
at the top right of the screen.
You will then be asked
to enter the following information:
-
Barcode:
the 14-digit barcode number on the back of your library card.
-
Your PIN (Personal
Identification Number): enter or create a password using letters,
numbers or both. PINS should be 4 - 8 characters in length. When creating
a new password, you may be directed to enter it twice.
- Pickup location:
from the drop-down menu, choose where you would like to pick up the
item.
- Cancellation
date: fill in the latest date you wish to receive this item from
the drop-down menu.
Click on the "Submit
above information" button and a screen will appear to tell you
your request was successful.
The library where
you will pick up the item will call you when it arrives.
Click New Search to begin a new catalog search
or
Regular Display to return to the screen of the item you just requested.

You may also Check
Your Record online to request multiple items, to see the list of items
you have out on loan or have requested, or to renew items. Go to the MHLS
online catalog home page to get to this feature.
With
a public library card from outside the Mid-Hudson Library System area:
You may use the Mid-Hudson Library System online catalog to identify materials
you would like to borrow and then use your local public library to obtain
them. The online Request-a-Title feature is not available to persons
without an MHLS card.
1. Make a list of
the title(s) you would like to borrow.
2. Take the list to
your local public library. (If you are an educator, you also have the
option of asking your school librarian to obtain the materials.)
3. Request the items
through interlibrary loan. Make sure to order ahead; a reasonable turnaround
time is needed for your request to be processed.
PLEASE NOTE: According
to your librarys borrowing policy, you may be asked to pay a shipping/handling
fee for Health Information Project materials loaned outside New York State.
